Trip Itinerary

Day 1 (Breakfast)

AAD Breakfast 'n Go!
Morning motorcoach departure from Elkins, WV (6:00am) (additional pick-up locations possible) to begin a wonderful two-day tour that offers a fascinating of one of the world's greatest cities. 
As we depart, enjoy a tasty breakfast sandwich and water/juice courtesy of our partners Great Harvest Bakery Company.  Snacks will be available on board the motorcoach throughout the day as we travel to Savannah, Georgia, the "Hostess City of the South".  Stops will be made throughout the day for lunch on your own (OYO) and for necessary rest and comfort breaks. Upon arrival in Savannah, we will check in to our hotel, the Holiday Inn Midtown and have some free time to explore the downtown area.  This is a great time to explore Savannah's famous River Street!  Dinner will be on your own (OYO) during your free time to explore.   After dinner, there will be a little more free time and then back to our hotel.  


Day 2 (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Following a tasty hotel breakfast*, we will take a 2-hour City Tour of this jewel of the South with a local guide. Following our trolley tour, you will have some additional time to explore Savannah's squares, fountains, gardens, museum houses and churches. Our group lunch* will be at Lady and Sons restaurant.  This famous eatery is own by Paula Deen and is a "must see" in Savannah.  After lunch, we will depart for the "Holy City", Charleston, SC. The trip to Charleston is approximately 2 hours from Savannah.  Along the way, you will have the opportunity to see the South Carolina Lowcountry up close from the windows of our motorcoach. 

 

After our mid-afternoon arrival, we will settle in for a two-night stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in North Charleston, SC.  At 6pm, we depart for James Island and dinner* at the Charleston Crab House (on Wappoo Creek). The Crab House sits on a wonderful tidal creek where you can view a beautiful South Carolina sunset. After dinner, we will continue traveling east on James Island until we reach the cozy beach town of Folly Beach for some free time and beach walking.  Folly Beach is known as the "Edge of America" and has a 1045' pier jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean.  Following our beach visit, it's back to the hotel for a restful night's sleep.

Day 3 (Breakfast, Dinner)

After a wonderful hotel breakfast*, a great day in Charleston awaits! We begin the day with a City Tour of the "Holy City".  Beautiful harbor views with colonial and Antebellum architecture are accented by a visit to the famed Citadel.  Following our city experience, we will have several hours to explore the Charleston City Market (OYO).  During this time, you could take a horse-drawn carriage tour, browse the stands and shops in the market area, take in a museum house tour or shop on Charleston's famous King Street (OYO).  If Civil War and American history interest you, there is even time to take the ferry to Fort Sumter (OYO).   During this free time, you will have many choices for a tasty Charleston lunch at your leisure (OYO).  The sky is the limit as you will have most of the early afternoon to take in the many charms of Charleston. Mid-afternoon, we will board the Carolina Belle for a 90-minute harbor cruise that takes you by The Battery, Mt. Pleasant, Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter.  The included dinner* will be a real treat as we try some South Carolina BBQ at Home Team BBQ.  The day concludes with a hilarious show at the Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theater.  The Black Fedora writes their own shows and always feature Charleston as a backdrop.  During the show many of our guests will have the opportunity to play parts in the show!  Desserts and beverages are available at the Black Fedora for an additional cost.

 

Day 4 (Breakfast, Lunch)

After another delightful hotel breakfast* and check-out, we head to Mt. Pleasant, SC to visit historic Boone Hall Plantation. Boone Hall was first established in 1681 and became an important plantation near the Atlantic Ocean.  While exploring the plantation, you will have an opportunity to tour the "big house", peruse through original brick slave cabins and learn about the local Gullah culture during a 30-minute live Gullah presentation.  Our visit to the plantation culminates in a gourmet boxed lunch* in an outdoor pavilion.

Following a boxed lunch* we will officially board the motorcoach and depart for home.  Your return trip aboard the motorcoach takes in the beautiful scenery along the way, while you reminisce on four exceptional days of tour and travel in South Carolina and Georgia!  A stop will be made for dinner on your own (OYO) mid-evening.  Estimated time of return is 11pm.
